A nonprofit organization, Special Olympics provides

year-round sports training and athletic competition in several

Olympic-type sports for children and adults intellectually

challenged giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical

fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a

sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other

Special Olympics athletes and the community. Some of the

sports are Aquatics, Athletics, Basketball, Bocce, Bowling,

Cycling, Equestrian, Figure Skating, Golf, Gymnastics,

Powerlifting, Softball, Volleyball, and more. Special

Olympics offers 30 Olympic-type individual and team sports that

provide meaningful training and competition opportunities for

persons with intellectual disabilities, including age-appropriate

activities and activities for lower ability athletes. For persons

with severe limitations who do not yet possess the physical and/or

behavioral skills necessary to participate in these sports, Special

Olympics also offers the Motor Activities Training Program

(MATP). The activities even go beyond sports! The

organization receives no federal or state funds, relying entirely

on corporate, civic and individual donations ~ operated totally by

dedicated volunteers. Come on ~ ALL are welcome to come, join the

fun ..."get involved with someone special!" If you have any
