Answerit isn't true because when you snowboard you improve your sense of balance. That balance you need for surfing as well. the only difference would be that with snowboarding, you kick out your back foot to turn, and with surfing, you use your front foot and shift your weight accordingly. it just takes a little longer for most people to realize that it is usually easier, in this scenario, to surf switch (i.e. snowboard goofy, surf reg. and vice versa) when first learning.
