The 1958 Baltimore Colts Member who played for the Football Team, The New York Yankees/The New York Yanks (AAFC) in the late 1940's was none other than my dear friend Zollie Young's Dad, the 'marvelous bullet', Buddy Young! Buddy was short in stature, but fast! His Life was too short, but his Impact has been permanent, both in the the world of Football & our Society! Buddy literally 'moved' people to talk, not only about himself as an unlikely great player, but about breaking the societal barriers of the times. (Google: Sports Illustrated- Steeler's Art Rooney & Buddy Young) Zollie was named after Buddy's friend, Zollie Toth. (Google Zollie Toth, too.) Unfortunately, all of Buddy Young's children have gone to Heaven to join Buddy. Zollie passed away in 1999. Buddy's Bride, Mrs. Geraldine Young has been blessed with such Vitality and Spirit! With her extended Family & Friends, Ms. Geraldine carries on her Family Legacy of Kindness & Equality For All, including Pets (Zollie loved his 'Duke':) ) by fostering Faith, Charity & Hope. God Bless The Young's ! Zollie, In Our Hearts Always! Arrivederci! p.s. if you were thinking NY Yankees Baseball, John Elway was thinking of signing with them, but obviously that was many years later than 1958, I believe before the Colts moved to Indiana.
