While it is hard to say one has an advantage over the other because of all the variables, offense should have the advantage for a few reasons. 1) The offense knows the snap count. When playing defense you are constantly trying to guess when the center will snap the ball. So in theory the offensive should be faster of the ball which allows the offensive line to engage the defense first giving them the upper hand. 2) Arguably the hardest position to play in footabll is CB. As a defensive back you have the challenge of guarding a guy that is usually just as physically gifted as you but taller. You also have the challenge of not knowing what route he is going to run. Its another guessing game that is very difficult. And the final reason it odds. If you take in to consideration the odds of guessing everything right, on every play, against all 11 Offense players, the odds are you are going to fail more than you succeed. Hope this helps.
offense wins battles, defense wins games
if you have the ball in your possession then your on offense if not your on defense
Offense and Defense
