As of the 2008 season, the most hits in a World Series is 13 and was done by Bobby Richardson of the Yankees in 1964, Lou Brock of the Cardinals in 1968, and Marty Barrett of the Red Sox in 1986. All three players played a 7 game Series that year.
No surprises about this list. It's chock full of players from the Yankees and Dodgers (Active players are in bold):

That record is held by Reggie Jackson of the New York Yankees who hit 5 home runs in the 1977 World Series. Reggie Jackson And Chase Utley hold the record for most home runs in all seven games in the world series.
Robinson's 9 base hits tied the World Series record for most base hits by a player in a 5 game World Series. This is still the record for a 5 game Series ... the last player accomplishing this was Sean Casey of the Tigers in the 2006 World Series.
Pete Rose holds the career record with 4,256 hits.
In the 1990 World Series, Cincinnati Reds outfielder Billy Hatcher tied New York Yankees catcher Thurman Munson's record of seven consecutive hits over the first two Series games. Munson's pulled off the feat in the 1976 World Series.
Freddie Lindstrom in 1924, Joe Garagiola in 1946 and Jacoby Ellsbury in 2007 all had 4 hits in a World Series Game.
Through 2010, Derek Jeter holds the record for most base hits for a Yankee with 2,926.
Pete Rose - 4,256 Hits
As of today, the record is held by Lou Gehrig, who slugged 1.727 in the 1928 World Series. Even if Ortiz hits three home runs in three at bats tonight, and the Red Sox win the Series, that STILL wouldn't break the record!!
I really do not know but all i found was is Derek Sanderson Jeter holds the all time record remember he beat the hall of fame in 2009. That is Paul Molitor of the Milwaukee Brewers with 5 base hits in Game 1 of the 1982 World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals ... all 5 were singles.
