Denis Potvin was the first Defenseman to reach 1000 points.
To qualify for NHL pension a player must play 400 games
According to NHL-NHLPA rules, a player must play in 400 games to get a full pension. At this point I don't know how this rule applies to back-up goalies who dress for a game but don't actually play. Maybe someone out there can enlighten me?

The first foreign player to play in the NHL was Pius Suter. He made his debut in the 2020-2021 season with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Only two players went on to play in the NHL. Tommy Williams became one of the best American born players ever to play in the NHL and goalie Jack McCartan played in 12 games for the New York Rangers. A third player, Herb Brooks, never played in the NHL but gained great fame as the coach of the 1980 Olympic team and as a coach in the NHL.
He got traded from a team that had already played more games (at the time of the trade) than the team he is being traded to. Quite simply, this player now plays for a team that has more games left to complete than his old club. Therefore, he is able to play over 82 games.
