Changing BaseballsBaseball umpires change the ball after almost every pitch because the major league pitchers are good enough to use the ball, if it has damage, to their advantage. For example, if the stitching is broken they are good enough to use that small detail to help themselves.

It depends if the baseball has cork in it as almost all do of course it'll float but the old baseballs used like in the 40's or 50's would most definitely sink.

Yes. The baseball is almost standard in size the world over. The playing field isn't so standard. I believe the Japanese pitcher's mound is shorter and closer to home plate. Actually the baseball sizes are slightly different in Japan and USA professional baseball. I played baseball there and in the states and was informed that Japanese baseballs are slightly lighter, but almost not noticable.

Orange U glad there are no Red baseballsI haven't seen any red baseballs but Orange baseballsalmost made it to the major Leagues. brainchild of Oakland Athletics owner Charlie Finley. The orange baseball was used in the A's 11-5 exhibition loss to the Indians. The maverick owner Charlie Finley efforts to introduce a bright orange baseball that Charlie thought might put some pizazz into the stuffy ole national pastime. The A's owner unveiled his masterpiece in 1970, using it in spring training when Bowie Kuhn balked at letting him try it in a regular-season ball game. The baseball is regulation size, and indicates right on the sweet spot that it's an Official Charles O. Finley baseball. The ball never caught on at the big league level. WELL IF YOU WATCH SPORT SCIENCE THAN IT TELLS YOU THAT SOFTBALL IS HARDER THAN BASEBALL. JENNIE FINCH BROKE BULLET PROOF GLASS BUT THE BASEBALL JUST BOUNCED OFF THE GLASS. The softball is not harder than a baseball it may be bigger but the softball is not that hard! i play softball and i know that a softball is not harder than a baseball because i got hit with a softball and it didn't hurt as much as the baseball.....and the people who were pitching pitched the exact same speed! so there u have it a baseball IS HARDER than a softball!!!! Yes it is a fact that baseballs are harder than softballs because they are wound tighter. It may be a smaller ball but it is solid. softballs are rubber with string wrapped around it so they fly almost 200 ft less than a baseball will.
