Jobs in research are a growing field. Research is respected as a fundamental aspect in our society. It shapes the way society functions and operates. If a career in research is interesting to you, it is possible to find a job doing what you enjoy. First, begin by getting a degree or at least experience in the field you are wishing to research, such as marketing, statistics or a more general degree like sociology. Each of these majors have courses that focus on both quantitative and qualitative research. While society tends to favor quantitative research, many also respect qualitative research as well.

Gaining experience in research begins right away in college. Students must take on personal research projects in order to pass their courses. Students can also apply to assist a professor in researching for their thesis or book. These are often paid positions but can also be internships. This experience looks excellent on a resume and is a must for anyone wishing to continue a devoted career to research. In order to keep focused and interested in the work, be sure to choose a research topic that you are interested in to begin with. It might be focused on a certain population, social issue or part of the world. When it comes to research, the possibilities are endless. There are even student grants to study and research around the world.

After graduation is the time to begin looking for research positions. These are mainly found at universities, colleges and community colleges. Students attaining their PhD or Doctorate degree tend to need help researching various aspects for their thesises. Professors must also research on a regular basis in order to keep their professor status and pay. If you are interested in doing professor work you can balance both teaching classes and doing research on the topic of your choice. This compiled information is then presented to a group of colleagues and can be turned into a book. Occasionaly the university itself will purchase these books to be used as teaching material in the college courses. Research is also highly valued in the media market to see societal and consumer trends.
