most revolvers made by S&W from that era are worth $300-500, depending on condition. the snubbies were not as common as the 4" barrels. these were 'combat masterpiece' and very commonly issued to police and military. wonderful weapons.

---- ---- The model 28-2 was in 357 magnum and not in .44 magnum, the model 28-2 was also call the highway patrolman and it was a budge down from a the more expensive model 27.The model 28 have a 6' barrel and the 28-2 have 4' barrel.Interesting thing was that S&W marked on the barrel 357 ctg (for cartridge ) and not 375 magnum.The 28's was made in a N frame (large frame) like the .44 magnums, Most of the 357 mag now are made in J or K Frames.The model 29 was made in .44 magnum (the famous Dirty Harry Gun)The model 28 was made from 1968 to 1986 and was use by a lots of police agencies and civilians alike.
