We see objects in colour for two reasons.

1. The objects only reflects certain wavelengths (colours) and absorbs the rest this is due to the bonds in the object, bonds absorbed specific wavelengths of light.

2. When these reflected waves enter out eyes they hit cones at the back of our eye which translates these wave/photons of light into an image we can see.
