Matcha, the type of tea used in the Japanese tea ceremony, is a
powdered green tea. More specifically, it as a Japanese green tea,
and it is most similar to Gyokuro. Like gyokuro, it is a
shade-grown green tea. Although it originated in Japan, teas in the
style of Matcha are now produced elsewhere, including in Kenya and
China.
Matcha is not the same as any powdered green tea...it is more
specific. Other green teas, if powdered, would not be considered
matcha.
