Rate of Pouring:
The slower the rate of pouring molten metal into the mold,
the
lower the fluidity because of the higher rate of cooling when
poured slowly. This can lead to incomplete castings.
You could increase the fluidity to solve this issue. Fluidity is
the capability for the molten metal to fill the mold cavities. To
increase fluidity, one can:
- Create a better mold design, one that allows molten metal to
flow more freely.
- Use a different mold material, one with LOW thermal
conductivity.
- Superheat the molten metal.
