If you have irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), you may need a nasogastric (NG) tube inserted. A nasogastric tube goes through your nose into your stomach and can be used to feed,… give medications, treat bowel obstructions, or pump your stomach. The tube can help your IBS, treating a bowel obstruction by releasing gasses and fluids in your stomach. This also helps your abdomen shrink if it is distended. The NG will be hooked up to a suction machine to suck out the gasses and fluids; this can take several hours or days depending on how much fluid and gasses have to be sucked out. To learn more about these topics, read on.A nasogastric tube is plastic tubing that is inserted into your nose and goes down your esophagus and into your stomach. The tube is used to feed you, treat bowel obstructions, pump your stomach, or administer medication. This procedure takes a few minutes to perform. If you have IBS, an NG tube can help you get rid of an intestinal blockage by releasing gas and fluids in your stomach. The NG tube is hooked up to a suction machine and both the tube and the machine work to bring out the fluid and gas that are stuck in your stomach. This procedure also pushes down the bowel so it's not distended. This will make it easier for the obstruction to go away. You may feel more comfortable after having the tube in, since the painful gasses that were building up have escaped. After having the NG tube in, doctors can treat your bowel obstruction. It depends on how long it takes for the fluids and gasses to be brought out. The process could take from several hours to two or three days. Once the tube is taken out, doctors will either put you on a low-fiber diet until the obstruction clears up by itself or remove the obstruction with surgery. Usually, if your bowel is partially obstructed, the obstruction will clear up on its own. If you have a completely obstructed bowel or it doesn't clear up by itself, surgery is usually the only option. When you have a nasogastric tube put in, it's a very uncomfortable experience. The tube can be difficult to pass through your nose and may hurt going down your throat. When the tube is ready to be inserted, you will be instructed to lie down. Then while the tube is being moved from your nose into your stomach, you will be told to move your head, neck, or parts of your body to help the tube slide down easier. When the tube is being moved into your stomach, you may feel like you want to cough or throw up.When you have IBS, you might require an NG tube to relieve a bowel obstruction. The tube is inserted into your nose and goes down to your stomach. It is hooked up to a suction machine that sucks out the gasses and fluids that are building up in your stomach due to the obstruction. While it is uncomfortable for the time that you are using it, the NG tube will relieve the painful pressure that builds in your abdomen during a bowel obstruction. Keep this article in mind if you need to prepare for NG tube insertion.Doctors or nurses can give you an oral aesthetic to help the tube slide down easier. They can also use a lubricant to help with insertion. This will make it more comfortable for you. (MORE)
A common misconception that people have is presuming that all gas appliances use the same type of fuel; however, two types of gas exist for home appliances: natural gas (NG) a…nd liquid propane (LP). Both NG and LP are perfectly safe when the proper appliance is installed correctly to the proper fuel type. Problems arise when a gas appliance isn't connected to the proper gas type. It's vital to understand the differences between the two types of fuels for two reasons: one, when purchasing an appliance and two, for the safety of your home once the appliance is installed.NG is a mixture of a variety of gases and propane is one of them. It's usually always stored and delivered in a gas state. Propane is separated from NG during a refining process. LP is stored in tanks of all sizes at a high pressure. This high pressure in turn liquefies the propane. When a LP tank's valve is opened, the change in pressure turns the propane from a liquid into a gas. The difference in pressure between the two gases is what causes the danger when installing a gas appliance to the wrong fuel type.Because NG is at a lower pressure than LP, the orifices within a NG ready appliance (nozzles that control the gas flow) must be larger to allow enough gas to exit through them. When a NG ready appliance is fed LP, the higher pressurized LP spews out of the larger orifices creating a much larger, dangerous flame; far too large for any reasonable use. This applies to any gas appliance like clothes dryers, ranges, and cooktops.Connecting an NG appliance to LP doesn't have the same dangerous flame creation as a LP appliance connected to NG. In fact the lack of pressure in the NG line can't effectively power a LP ready appliance. Symptoms of a NG appliance connected to LP can be very low flames or none at all making cooking food or drying clothes impossible. The first step is to check your utility bills for areas listing NG or LP usage. Remember that propane is delivered and stored via tanks not through a ground line like NG. If you have a large tank on the outside of your home and a truck comes to fill that tank, then you have LP. Check the information plate on your gas appliances. This plate lists the model number, serial number, and fuel type of the appliance. If you still aren't sure, contact your local gas company or a certified contractor to inspect your home. Most gas appliances are already set to run on NG; however most can be converted to accept LP. This involves installing a conversion kit that contains the proper orifices to match the pressure of the fuel type. If a fuel conversion is needed, double-check that the kit is included with the appliance as some manufacturers provide these kits as an accessory for a separate fee. A fuel conversion is a simple process for a qualified technician and many retailers perform this conversion for you; however, do expect a fee for this service.Unfortunately, not all appliances can be converted from one fuel to another and these models must be ordered specifically NG or LP ready. Informing your salesperson of your gas type at the beginning of the sales process eliminates the hassle of navigating through slight model number changes and conversion options, and keeps you focused on finding the correct gas appliance for your needs.According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, Americans consumed 25.46-trillion cubic feet of natural gas in 2012. Yes, trillion. While NG and LP are both common fuels, making sure to pair the correct appliance with the correct gas type is vital for an easy and safe installation. Be sure to communicate what fuel you need to your salesperson to ensure a smooth purchase and always consult with a trained professional when handling anything involving the installation of a gas appliance. "Be Your Way." There are so, so many things wrong with this. Besides the blatant grammar mistake (how can you "be" your "way?), this slogan says absol…utely nothing about the product, and it definitely doesn't entice anyone to buy a burger. They should have stuck to "Have it your way.""If it doesn't get all over the place, it doesn't belong in your face." Where do we even begin with this? Why would someone want to get food all over their face? (Unless they're three, of course.) Why is that the goal? They need to change this slogan ASAP."Full flavor, full pockets, full life." Let's be real, "full belly" would have made more sense. It's quite presumptuous of Church's Chicken to claim that their chicken is the answer to your hollow life (assuming that your life is indeed hollow). But maybe you shouldn't knock them until you try them. Church's Chicken might be your sal-i-vation!"So Good Its RIDQulous." This just legitimately doesn't make sense! Making up words and capitalizing random letters doesn't make food taste better. In fact, it confuses patrons and makes them question their visit. Clearly, there are some RIDQulous people running the show at Dairy Queen. But at least their Blizzards are still amazing..."Loosen up a little." Because a caffeinated beverage loosens you up for the day? Or a fried piece of dough slathered in frosting and riddled with sugar makes you want to relax? Dunkin' Donuts may have misled you into believing their foods and drinks will chill you out for the day ahead, but really they're looking out for your well-being. Can't be dozing off during your 9 a.m. meeting!"You Got Thirty Minutes." Or they'll whack the customer? We're not entirely sure what they're trying to advertise here - maybe this is referring to the estimated delivery time? Clearly Domino's Pizza struggles to connect with people on a relational level, but don't fret! Their delivery times really are exceptional, especially in a pinch for dinner."Where the food's the star." Apparently, not only can you eat your food, it will sing and dance for you too. You would think that star-studded food would be a pain to deal with- getting it dressed properly, or making sure the temperature is to its liking. This sounds like a lot of drama for a hamburger. Fun fact: Hardee's and Carl Jr's are owned by the same company - a company that needs a new marketing person."We don't make it until you order it." No, really? Your customers were wondering about the fry cooks, and burger flippers, and that giant grill in your presumed kitchen. It's good to know that they aren't bored all day. Thank you for clearing that up for everyone, Jack in the Box."Life is short. Eat better pizza." Are they trying to scare away customers? This literally reads as, "Yes we make pizza, but we want you to have better pizza. Enjoy your life." You should never eat somewhere that's advocating for the other guy. The next time you go into Jet's Pizza, maybe help boost their confidence by telling them that their pizza is good."Your mom wants you to eat at Jimmy John's." It's safe to say that Jimmy John's has not, in fact, talked with your mother recently. It's also fair to assume that no; she did not recommend you eat at Jimmy John's. First of all, we're sure your mother would want you to make your own decisions about lunch, and second of all, she'd probably never recommend fast food."Sarap ng Pilipino, Ang Sarap Maging At Home, Atin ang Langhap Sarap! Bee Happy, Bida ang Saya!" This is difficult to understand, Jollibee. In the few English words embedded in your slogan, patrons can read, "At Home," and, "Bee Happy." If you want people to be happy at home, you should just say so. How are they going to try your tasty food if you encourage them to stay home?"Buy a bucket of chicken and have a barrel of fun." Patrons have bought your buckets of chicken, and yet no one has received a barrel of fun, KFC. Perhaps if the slogan read, "Buy a bucket of chicken and KFC will be eternally grateful to you as a loyal customer," there would be more truth to the slogan. Run it by the Colonel and see what he says."High Performance Human Fuel." Is this a Soylent Green scenario?! Perhaps they're trying to emphasize the hard work that goes into each meal they make. Just in case, when you go to Checkers Drive-In Burgers, make sure you ask them what the burgers are made of."Do What Tastes Right." Oh, come on. You can eat what tastes right, or do what feels right, but you can't do what tastes right. Step it up Wendy's."We Speak Fish." This one definitely takes the cake. No explanation necessary. (MORE)
Men and women in many different countries approach dating and relationships in different ways. Some of the unique dating rituals and customs in different cultures are quite in…teresting.Singles in Australia enjoy group dates with as many as 30 people going to dinner or movies together. They believe it is safer and less stressful than going on one-on-one dates. They also don't start pairing off until they are 18 and 19 years old, with girls doing the asking and paying. Although many depictions of Paris emphasize couples in love, in reality, French couples prefer to date in small groups. House parties are popular ways to get to know other people and meet prospective dates. In Italy, couples go for evening walks together in a practice known as la passeggiata. It is an Italian tradition and usually occurs between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. This is a socially acceptable time for dating and flirting, and parents encourage young people to participate.Dancing is the name of the game in Russia. Couples gather at balls and dance clubs to eat, dance, and chat in groups. Russian teenagers gather in groups around downtown fountains for socializing with the opposite sex.Dating in the Middle East usually takes place under the supervision of parents. Parents arrange the meeting of young couples in groups, and they do not usually spend time alone. The families decide who their children date and marry. Girls must be home by 7 p.m. and boys by 11 p.m.In most areas of South America, teenagers cannot go on dates until they reach 15 years of age. Even then, they must go on dates in large groups. They often gather at clubs, dances, and parties.Although in South America, one unique dating custom to Brazil is kissing. They believe kissing is the easiest way to get to know one each other, so there is always a first kiss on the first date. This method always can save some time as you can quickly spot a bad kisser. Most young people in Japan do not start dating until they reach college age. At that time, the boys ask girls on dates and pay any costs. Parents expect high school age boys and girls to spend their time studying. In many parts of Africa, the parents arrange their children's partners long before they reach dating ages. Even if a boy or girl chooses to date, it is often with full knowledge that his or her parents will ultimately choose the future spouse.Dating is illegal in Iran. Teenagers never date, and they meet their partners when it is time for marriage. Their parents introduce them, and they often marry immediately. The Dutch really don't have much in terms of dating rules. Both guys and girls are equally likely to ask each other out and whatever happens on the first date, stays on the first date. The idea of what is to be expected at the first date simple depends on the two going on the date. Women also are not afraid to ask for man's hand in marriage. (MORE)
The geography of the Ivory Coast is heavily influenced by its neighbors. It strategically sits at the confluence of many rivers and ecological zones. Consequently, it has more… resources than its neighbors and is wealthier and more powerful. Ivory Coast is a small nation, but it has plains, savannas, mountains, rainforests, and regular forests.Ivory Coast is mostly a large plateau that starts at sea level and reaches approximately 1,640 feet. The various regions of Ivory Coast's topography mimic those of its neighbors. Along the border of Ghana, lagoons stretch inland almost 190 miles. The south is densely covered with tropical rain forests. Eastern Guinea's forests follow the Sassandra River across the south and exit into Ghana, while the Western Guinean Lowland extends across the country into Liberia. The northern part of Ivory Coast is mostly savanna. The majority of the terrain is flat with plains throughout and mountains in the northwest. The Cavalla River forms the majority of the border with Liberia and drains into the Atlantic Ocean. The Sassandra river does not form any border, but lies in the west and provides much of the drainage for that portion of Ivory Coast. The Bandama River is the longest river in the country (471 miles). The capital city, Yamoussoukro, is located on a lake created by damming the river in 1973. Finally, the Komo River follows the border between Burkina Faso and then turns south to empty into the Gulf of Guinea.Ivory Coast experiences three seasons; hot and dry, warm and dry, and hot and wet. It is generally humid and warm. The northern reaches of the country experience a more arid climate, while the southern edge is more equatorial. Temperatures range from 50-104 degrees Fahrenheit. The northernmost point is at the border of Mali, at the Bago River. The easternmost point is unnamed, along the border of Ghana just southwest of the village of Tanbi. The southernmost point is in the town of Bourne. The westernmost point is along the border with Liberia on the Noun river.Having five neighbors is not always an enviable feature. Ivory Coast is bordered by many countries and shares the land features of each. However, it uses these contours and resources to its best advantage, both economically and strategically. Conservation efforts are underway with the creation of Tai National Park, but natural resources are exploited in other areas of the country.Eleven species of monkey live in Ivory Coast along with other endangered species, such as the Pygmy Hippo. Deforestation of the nation's hardwood is matching that of Brazil, and the only untouched land is found in the Tai National Forest. The rain forests are being destroyed at a rate that is often called the fastest in the world. (MORE)
