There are many ways to stop the opposing team from scoring points, ways such as:
A Turnover:
By forcing a turnover, the opposing team will stop attacking and the attacking chance will be given to your team. There are many ways to force a turnover, such as:
- Stop your opponent from gaining 10 yards with their 4 chances (4 downs)
- Forcing a "Fumble" (Fumble: When a player drops a ball before falling). When the ball fumbles, and you get the ball, the attacking chance will be given to your team
- Catching the opposing team's "Punt" (Punt: When a punter, which is also called a kicker, kicks a ball)
Half - Time:
When the opposing team is in "Huddle" (Huddle: In which the team members are discussing their strategies in a group), and the referee blows the "Half - Time" whistle, the game is stopped instantly, thus stops the opposing teams attack. Remember that when there is a play going on, "Half - Time" whistle would not stop the play, the "Half - Time" whistle would be in effect when the play has stopped.
Blocking a pass:
When the "Quarterback" (Quarterback: The player who throw passes, give ball for running, "Control Tower" for the attacking play) throws a pass. Block it by swatting the ball before it reaches the opposing catcher or steal the ball when the ball is flying (Passing).
Force a fumble:
By forcing a fumble (and getting the ball), will make your team be given the attacking chance.
Blocking a field goal:
By blocking a field goal, this will make the intended field goal (Which costs 3 points, or when it is in try for point, it costs 1 point) miss. Please remember that doing this is very hard since you need to try to make a wall that could reach the ball's flying height.
Either the opposing strikers, mid fielders, defendants, or goalies.

3 points for a field goal in American Football

a safety is worth 2 points for the opposite team.
2 Points. A winning team could triumph by scoring a safety and no other points.
If you are referring to the position, a safety is the approximate equivalent to the free safety position in American football. (The strong safety position is replaced by two "halfbacks", since there are 12 men to a side in Canadian football.) In scoring a safety is the same thing as in American football. If a player is tackled within his own end zone or steps out of the back of his own end zone the opposing team is awarded two points for a "safety" and the tackled player's team is then required to kick the ball off to their opponents.
Scoring a field goal in American football cannot be done in conjunction with a touchdown. They are two independent ways of scoring. You may have meant can you score an "extra point" without a touchdown. In American football, extra points (1 or 2 depending on type of play), can only happen in conjunction with a touchdown. In Canadian football, they may be scored under circumstances not related to a touchdown.
