It depends on what group of people you are talking about. People who lived in Ghettos had lives like what you see with homeless people: struggling to survive, to find food, money, and a way to get back on top. Many people who were living in France spent many of their days fighting the Axis Forces and helping the Allied Forces. There were people who were not Jews stuck in the concentration camps during the Holocaust and they were treated like the Jewish people: starved to death, gassed, castrated, etc.
There were a lot of Non Jews that were part of the Holocaust many that were not involved personally were deeply shocked by the event and from my experience there were a surprising amount who couldn't have cared less. If it wasn't for the unrelenting publicity that is devoted to this issue by the Jewish people. this would be a forgotten issue like most of the blood baths that have occurred both before and after this terrible occurrence.
It was great for the children, they were very happy and not that many died:) but when the Nazi's came to town everything changed.
