I'm assuming the stem, leaves and petals are supposed to be stacked on top of each other in some bizarre way, with the leaves supplying 2" of height. If p = height supplied by petals and s = length of stem: * p = 3/4(s+2) * s = p + 2 p = s - 2 So 3/4(s+2) = s - 2 3.5 = 1/4s and therefore s = 14, p = 12The length of the whole flower may perhaps be taken as 14 + 12 + 2 = 28", although arguably it is just 14", as leaves and petals radiate sideways. An oddly worded problem!
