Put it in park, pull the button off the shifter, it will come off without hurting anything, just has a clip inside. Next remove the snap ring inside the knob, and it pulls off.
Take it to a trusty mechanic and if that doesnt work by a new car
Once you remove the dash plastic surround, you will find two bolts that hold the column up into the dash. As you loosen these bolts, the column will drop into your lap. I hope this helps you. Mark
This fusebox is located at the base of the steering column, top right hand side.
If it is popping out of gear only under acceleration and not other times this could mean there is a transaxle problem. May be time for a rebuild. Make sure there are no problems with the shifter bushings both under the shifter and at the transaxle nosecone. Otherwise be prepared to get a new transaxle.
