My 1987 Chevy Celebrity with 2.8 V6 was doing the same thing. I cured the problem by replacing three dead fuel injectors.

AnswerStart with the basics, vacumn hoses, ignition parts, fuel filter/line leaks, sensors. I'd start with Vacumn hoses then fuel...**I have a 92 Chevy Blazer doing the same thing. It's been buggin me for weeks. Afer checking and or replacing the EGR valve, IAC, vacuum hoses, plugs, wires...I am about to change the fuel filter next, but I really suspect the problem has something to do with the exhaust.

Check your all your battery connections and your battery. It might be your anti-theft, turn key to on, not start, if anti-theft light start flashing, wait til it stop. This may take a while, after it stop, turn key off and wait a couple of sec. and ten try to start. warren2715@yahoo.com

An intermittent miss in a 94 Caprice could be something in the ignition system. Check the plug wires and ignition coil to start with.

In my Celbrity I know that when I'm low on gas the engine cuts out when turning sharp or stopping quick. I believe the valve for the gas is in the back of the tank so whenever momentum forces the gas forward (i.e. when you stop quick or are facing down hill) the engine cuts out.

Check the ECM Electronic Control Module, under the distributor cap If its bad sometimes it wont start or it will and then die
