When you say 'Timing Marks', there are several places on this engine that has various marks in regards to the Harmonic Balance, Camshaft sprockets, crankshaft, and timing cover. If you are checking the timing, you will use the marks on the timing cover. If you are setting or replacing the timing belt, you will want to use the camshaft sprockets in relation to the crankshaft/harmonic Balance. On this year, the crankshaft key notch should be 12'oclock and the sprockets should have the timing marks 'E' for exhaust and 'I' for intake aligned facing with the 'E' at 3'oclock and the 'I' at 9'oclock. Hope this helps. AJ
there are no timing marks on the cam shaft pullys you have to remove the rocker cover and fit a locking tool to the rear of the cams the crank has a mark on the fan belt pully to the cover at about 5 oclock
dunno the marks seem strange to me have just pulled down my missus 1.8 n found when crank pulley mark is showing t.d.c. marks on cam sprockets are pointing at 3 oclock inlet and 9 oclock exhaust so will have to leave it till ive seen a photo sorry mate
It's the same as a small block chevy- 6 pm- 12 pm 6 : oclock on the cam shaft - 12: oclock on the crankshaft
The crank gear dot is at 12 oclock when #1 piston is at TDC, Top dead center. Cam gear dot is at 6 oclock. Both dots should be in a stright line over top of each other.
Timing marks 1990 GEO Prizm GSI (4 AGE)The crank timing mark for the 1990 GEO Prizm GSI (4 AGE with twin overhead cam) is a notch found on the inside rim of the crank pulley. Set this notch to 0 for TDC on the Crank sprocket dust cover. The intake and exhaust cam sprockets have an indention on one tooth of the sprocket. Aline this dot with the crease in the back plate. The intake crease is a vertical crease at 12 oclock position and the exhaust is a vertical crease slightly before the 12 oclock position. If cam sprockets have been removed make sure you align the cam shafts before reinstalling sprockets. Set the knock pin of the intakse shaft to the 12 oclock position and the exhaust shaft to the 5 oclock position. Once this is done install the sprockets so their respective timing marks line up with the marks on the metal back plate.
To change the timing belt on a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer, first disconnect the battery and remove the accessory belts. Next, drain the coolant and remove the radiator for better access. Align the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft, then remove the old timing belt, tensioner, and idler pulleys. Install the new timing belt, ensuring proper tension, reassemble the components, refill the coolant, and reconnect the battery.

To replace the timing belt on a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer, first, disconnect the battery and remove necessary components such as the drive belts and the crankshaft pulley. Align the timing marks on the camshaft and crankshaft, then remove the old timing belt. Install the new timing belt, ensuring it is properly tensioned, and reassemble all components in reverse order. Always consult the vehicle's service manual for specific torque specifications and procedures.
Timing marks are on the sprockets and on the timing belt itself. No other marks are necessary.
timing marks are , marks on camshaft sprocket, an on crankshaft sprocket'.
