Electronically Controlled Automatic Transmission. On my '98, it has 2 options: ECO for economy and PWR for power. The power position holds each gear a little longer, going to higher RPM's for more hill climbing, passing and accelerating power.

a 97 kia sportage does not have an inertia switch (what ford motor company calls it).
because you turned it on. The Kia sportage has an econ button, if you push it the power button lights up.

of course it will, there all the same motor from 1995 thru 2001.
It means you have pushed the eco button to power. In english , the power button changes the shift pattern for more performance on the transmission.
