2001 Chevy Malibu LS and every now and then when you lock the doors you will hear a beep as if the car has an alarm but you don't think you have an alarm?

its not an alarm. its called a programmable horn chirp. made to indicate locking has occurred and for safety when you approach you car in a dark area. you can deactivate it by holding the lock switch in the unlock position for 10 seconds with the ignition in the ON position and all the doors closed. to reactivate repeat procedure
