Solved it today. small vac leak at the air pump to the purge can.
P0456 = EVAP control system, very small leak detected. Start with checking for a loose gas cap or replacing the gas cap.
Error code P0456 on a 2003 Dodge Durango indicates a small leak in the evaporative emission control system (EVAP). This system captures fuel vapors from the fuel tank and prevents them from escaping into the atmosphere. A small leak could be caused by a loose or damaged gas cap, cracked hoses, or faulty components within the EVAP system. It's important to diagnose and address the issue to avoid potential emissions problems and ensure optimal vehicle performance.
Trouble code P0456 means: EVAP Control System Very Small Leak (0.020") Detected

They all have to do with evaporative emission system leaks. You probably have cracked vaccuum hoses under the air cleaner box, and possibly under the van at the charcoal canister.
p0442 is evaporative emissions medium leak detected p0456 is evaporative emissions small leak detected Both codes are usually caused by cracked vacuum hoses. Normal failure points are under the throttle body, and down by the fuel tank.
I'm sure the evap. codes you mentioned aren't why it's not starting. My codes (1684, p0456, p0455, p0442) were all caused by a 3/8 by 3" long hose connecting the tube running to the front of the engine to the ldp. The ldp is located on the passenger side behind and above the gas tank. The tubing is 3/8 but it's connrcted to a 7/16 nipple. Great design huh!
To check the code on the 2004 Dodge Durango you can also KEY from the on to start position 4 times (eg. Off to start, off to start, off to start, off) and the code should show up in the odometer reading. For example I just had the MIL come on and I did the KEY thing and found the code was P 0456. If you don't see something try turn the key again three times and then on the fourth turn leave it in the start position. It should show up. the durango need to be pluged into a type of computer that can communicate with the powertrain control module (pcm) if you have an engine malfunction light on. the drb will give you a code, the code will give you an area of the vehicle to inspect ie p0456 (large evaporitive emidssion leak detected) then you will have to inspect that system to find the cause of the code
A P0456 IS A Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (very small leak) The most common fix is a gas cap. Either you didnt tighten it when you filled up or just need to buy a new one
P0456 EVAP emission control system leak
Codes P0455, P0456, and P0457 on a 2007 Chrysler 300 indicate issues with the evaporative emission control system (EVAP). Specifically, P0455 denotes a large leak, P0456 indicates a small leak, and P0457 points to a loose or missing gas cap. These codes typically suggest a problem with fuel vapor containment, which can lead to increased emissions and might affect fuel efficiency. It's advisable to inspect the gas cap, EVAP hoses, and related components for any signs of wear or damage.
