Welcome to the wonderful world of "hardware" guns. It would be very difficult to give you an exact age of your rifle. Witte Hardware was a large business that lasted from about 188o to 1983. At one time it was common for MANY gunmakers to make guns for others, using the purchaser's brand names. Examples of this include the Sears JC Higgins brand, the Montgomery Wards Western Field, and Western Auto's Revelation brands. In some cases, like Witte, Shapleigh Hardware, Gambles Store- the store name was used. These guns were made by Stevens/Savage, Mossberg, Marlin, Winchester, Noble- and many others. Many of these may not have a specific model (I have 2 Gambles Store Pioneer rifles, and it took 5 years to match them to original make/ model) Most of these rifles did not have serial numbers, indicating they were made before this was required in 1968. Personally, I like these guns. They were a "working man's gun"- inexpensive but sound, made to be an everyday shooter- and a reminder of a time when just about every store had a gun department.

Is a sig sauer a single action?

Sig Sauer pistols can be single action only. They can also be double, single action where the first shot is double action and the following shots are single action. Also they can be double action only, or they can be double action Kellerman. They give many options for the shooters preference. Just a quick answer without a lot of detail.

What is a single action gun?

Generally speaking, a single action gun is a gun that has to be cocked before it can be fired. The term "single action" comes from the fact that the trigger only has a single function; it drops the hammer to fire the gun. A good example of a single action handgun is a 1911 style or a Browning Hi-Power. Also, the old style "cowboy" revolvers are single action.

Who made a Diamond Arms 12 gauge single barrel with cv 744 stamped in its forearm and when was it made?

Diamond Arms was a trade name used by Shapleigh Hardware Company. The CV744 stamp likely indicates the manufacturer's code, but it does not provide specific information on the production date. These shotguns were typically produced in the early to mid 1900s. To determine the exact manufacturing date, you may need to consult historical records or contact a firearms expert.
