If there were a way to see the south celestial pole, and it was 40 degrees above the horizon, then you would be somewhere along the line of 40 degrees south latitude. Unfortunately, there is no star at or near the south celestial pole, so there is no way for you to see the south celestial pole and observe its elevation.
Latitude. 2nd answer: Latitude is the wrong answer. Distance is measured in miles, feet, yards, meters, kilometers, and so forth. Latitude is a measurement of degrees, not distance.

Remove the 30 amp double pole breaker and install at least one single pole 15 amp breaker. It is best if the other slot is not left open so if you have another single pole breaker of any size install it in the 2nd spot so it isn't open when you replace the cover on the panel. For your 15 amp circuit you need #14 gauge copper wire or larger with a hot, neutral, and ground. Your 30 amp circuit was probably wired with #10 gauge conductors. These will probably work on your 15 amp circuit but it may be difficult to connect #10 conductors to devices.
Roald Amundsen and Robert Falcon Scott both explored the South Pole at the same time in 1911. Amundsen was aware of Scott's objective, but Scott was not aware that Amundsen was right behind him. Roald Amundsen got there first on 14th of December, 1911. Amundsen reported that he saw no sign of Scott. Scott reached the South Pole on 17th of January, 1912, acknowledging in his diary that Amundsen had got there a month earlier. The last members of the Scott expedition was found dead by a relief party two years later in 1913.
