Good: curing diseases, catching people in crime, helps science evolve and advance,
Bad: could lead to over population if it comes to people being able to live forever, expensive, goes against some religions, and experiments could be harmful
*these are just some of my personal inputs and what I think.
Biotechnology can have both positive and negative impacts on the environment. On the positive side, biotechnology can help create plants that are more resistant to pests and diseases, reducing the need for chemical pesticides. However, there are concerns about the potential for genetically modified organisms (GMOs) to affect natural ecosystems and biodiversity through cross-breeding or unintended consequences. Proper regulation and monitoring are important to ensure that biotechnology is used responsibly to minimize its negative environmental impact.
A typical biotechnology degree program takes about 4 years to complete at the undergraduate level. This usually includes general education requirements, core biotechnology courses, and possibly an internship or research project. Advanced degrees, such as a master's or PhD in biotechnology, can take additional years to complete.
Studying biotechnology typically takes 4-6 years to complete a bachelor's degree, 1-2 years for a master's degree, and 3-5 years for a Ph.D. program. The actual time it takes will depend on the program you choose, your study pace, and any specialization or research you pursue within the field.
1. Tissue culture technique 2. Cell fusion 3. Somatic cell hybridisation 4. Somaclonal varitions 5. Organ culture technique 6. Embryo rescue 7. Genetic engineering 8. Improving nutritional quality 9. Production of diseased resistant plants 10. Salt and drought tolerance
Uses of BiotechnologyBiotechnology can be used for hundreds of things. It's already made it's impact on medicine, the environment, edibles, clothing, agriculture...practically everything! The manufacture of beer, cheese, cottage cheese, wine and bread all utilize biotechnology,High Yileding Variety (HYV) seeds have been developed due to biotechnology. Also, with newer discoveries in this field, better and more eco-friendly fertilizers, manures, pesticides, weedicides and insecticides are being developed. Biotech might show us the way to a new, renewable source of energy.Genetically modified organisms can be used to control or cure certain diseases.Addtionally:Biotechnology is the combination of biology+technology=anything which involves living organisms to manufacture and produce industrial process.Biotech is commonly used in HGP (Human Genome Project) where 3 billion nucleotides are decoded. By doing this, scientists are able to discover new treatments and cures for some chronic illness such as alzhimer's disease and tuberculousis.
