did the clutch cable come off? (if its a manual) that or there is a problem with the transmission.
If it won't shift in all the gears.
The most common reason for a transmission not to shift properly is low transmission fluid. Make sure the transmission fluid is up to the full mark.
Get the fluid to operating temperature like 15 minutes driving should do it, stop and with foot on the brake shift through all the gears and do it slowly, put in park and with the car still running check the level on the dip stick. Check on level ground.
1994 mark viii wont shift into 3rd
Concole
Possibly tappets.
It's on the drivers side of the transmission.
Drop the transmission oil pan
If you mean that you can't shift the shifter while pressing on the brake, I would say that it is down by the brake pedal.
have you got the sterring lock on Maybe you forgot to push your brake -pedal. While pushing your shift handle will move.
13 quarts that is including the torque converter
I was hoping someone would ask me that. I have a 96 mark viii - i bought it for $1500 (Awesome condition everything worked perfect.) After about 8 months of racing random cars everyday, the car would shake violently in and out of gears - and eventually drive turned into neutral. You MAY have a linkage problem, but not likely with a mark viii as it is not a common problem. If your car goes into reverse and moves but does not in drive - then your transmission is no good. I did this with mine (found out later that the one i had was not original). Check out question "How to change transmission in mark 8" describes how it is done exactly.
