Okay so we have the basic energy equation:

Q = m * Cp * dT

where Q = energy (Joules)

m = mass (grams)

Cp = heat capacity (J/g.C)

dT = change in temperature ( C)

here we have

Q = 1470 J

Cp = 0.90 J/g.C

dT = 16 C

so using the equation we find that:

m = 102.1g (1 d.p)

E=mct where E = Energy change, m = mass, c = specific heat capacity and t is change in temperature.

1.42 = 0.05x10-3 x c x 31.6

c = 898.7

c = 900 J Kg-1 K-1
