Fluorides of sodium and potassium
Fluoride is added to drinking water to prevent tooth decay
Fluoride is a compound that is often added to water supplies and dental products to help prevent tooth decay. It is not a solution in the typical sense of the word, as it is a chemical element or compound.
Toothpaste- as monoflurophosphate (or MFP) can reduce the ability of bacteria to make acids, and can remineralize the areas of the tooth that have been attacked by acids from bacteria.
This toothpastes contain sodium fluoride (NaF), tin fluoride (SnF2), sodium monofluorophosphate(NaPO3F), etc. as fluoride source.
Fluoride treatment strengthens tooth enamel, helping to prevent tooth decay and cavities. It can also help to remineralize enamel and reduce sensitivity.
Fluoride is the chemical added to many municipal water supplies to help prevent tooth decay.
Some chemicals added to prevent tooth decay are: sodium fluoride, potassium fluoride, stannous fluoride, sodium fluoride phosphate, etc.

I do not believe that anything is added to help tooth decay. Fluorides are added to fight (not help!) tooth decay.

to help prevent tooth decay, just like there is fluoride in tooth paste to prevent tooth decay. The fluoride added to water is no where near as high concentration as in tooth paste though
