The heat generated by the fire warms surrounding gasses and they rise, pulling the flame up.
There's only one kind of heat energy. I'm guessing that you meant heat transfer. A person sitting in front of a fireplace feels two of the three kinds of heat transfer. Conduction, the first, is minimal, because there is little or no contact between the fire and the person: conduction is only through contact. Convection, the second type, is heat transfer through fluids: i.e. liquids and gases. Presumably, no liquid is involved, but the fire heats air, which heats up the person in turn. The third kind of heat is radiation, and it means heat transfer through electromagnetic waves. The fire does produce electromagnetic waves (infrared and visible, at the very least), because the chemical energy of the wood is being released. The energy that strikes the person is then absorbed, and the person feels heat.

The heat from the sun warms the swimming pool by transferring energy to the water molecules, causing them to move faster and increase in temperature.
Sunlight warms the pool water by transferring heat energy. The water absorbs sunlight, causing it to heat up. The temperature of the pool water will increase if it receives more sunlight and decreases if it is shaded from sunlight.
The person sitting near the fire receives heat primarily through radiation, as the fire emits infrared radiation that warms the person's body directly. Convection currents in air may also play a role in transferring some heat from the fire to the person, but radiation is the main mechanism.

You will feel radiant heat when you put your hands above a fire, which is heat transferred through electromagnetic radiation. This type of heat warms your hands by direct exposure to the fire's energy.
You can feel the heat from fire when sitting near it because heat is transferred through radiation, conduction, and convection. The infrared radiation from the fire warms your skin and surrounding air. This sensation is what makes you feel the heat.
