A miscellaneous 8 line stanza is called an octet. But the 8 line stanza which forms the first verse of a sonnet is called an octave, and the commonest form of 8 line stanza (by far) in English is called ottava rima.
The noun 'outline' is a singular, common noun; a concrete noun as a word for a line tracing the outer edge of something or a brief written summary; an abstract noun as the general idea of something. The noun form for the verb to outline is the gerund outlining.
A line is a one-dimensional set of points that extends to infinity in each of its two directions without any turns (if it had a turn it would be two-dimensional). The word line is also commonly used to refer to a line segment, which has two end points and therefore does not extend to infinity. A line with one end point that extends to infinity in one direction is called a ray.
