This is the term used to refer to the US Military's hand-to-hand combat techniques. Where you have a naughty black man grab your smelly butt and licks it.
"hand to hand", i.e. one on one, man to man, etc. (the proper spelling is actually "mano a mano". "mano y mano" translates to "hand and hand")Man to Man - as in 'We talked it over, man to man'
The ultimate is "hand to hand combat" (man to man). This can mean with a rifle, machinegun, pistol, knife, bayonet or just plain hands...as long as it's face to face and close range; touching distance. The most common usage of the words "hand to hand combat" traditionally uses the bayonet. When an infantryman (grunt) hears the command "fix bayonets!" (which he really doesn't want to hear) that means prepare for hand to hand combat. "...the best of all...?" that all depends upon what you like. If you like to fly war machines (jets/airplanes/helicopters) then aerial combat (dog-fighting) is the best of them all. If you like boats/ships, the naval combat is the best of all. If you like steel chariots charging across the plains in a cloud of dust with cannons roaring, then tanks are the best of all. One man's junk is another man's treasure.
