Renaissance
The period of transition or change that bridges the gap between medieval and modern times is called the Renaissance period. During this period there is a huge advance in technology and in literature.
Humanism was a change from Medieval times because it helped create better well rounded people... It stressed the study of classical subjects such as: 1.history 2.Grammer 3.Literature 4.Philosophy which made more subjects and a better well rounded community.
Before, they were solely concentrated on their salvation. During the renaissance, they focused more on worldly things and the human experience rather than salvation.
The range of medieval taste in literature reflects a culturally diverse time period. Spanning from 5th century to the 15th century, medieval genres include tales of saint's lives, and religious strife and struggles. These are struggles for change and individuality. You can see these themes throughout Morte D' Arthur. Is there a particular theme you would like me to explore and quote to you specifically from the work of literature
Early in the Middle Ages, there were some secular plays. Then there were plays called Mummings, that combined Christian and pagan elements, and did not adhere to the standards of the Church or authorities. About the tenth century, Miracle Plays and Mystery Plays appeared, and these had Christian themes. Not long after, Morality Plays appeared, and dealt with moral issues from a Christian point of view. In the High Middle Ages and Late Middle Ages, Manners Plays appeared, which were more of a secular nature. There is a link below to an article on Medieval Theater.
