He can't. Why not. It isn't.

Edit (Improvement?) by AFriend.ca : This is a trick question, found in many old math puzzle books that I've read. By "trick question" I mean silly and trivial, although some may consider it as "thinking outside the box". It goes like this:
The student then claims to have "divided twelve in half" and shown that the result is seven. (That's usually followed by groans from the others, claims that using roman numerals isn't fair, claims that it's an unfair trick question, and so on.)
Half of seven eights is three fourths
Seven and a half.
seven sixteenths
seven and three quarters = seven and six eighthsthree is half of sixleaving one and six eighths = 8/8 + 6/8 = 14/8so half of 14/8 = 7/8Answer: three and seven eighths
Half of 7/16 is 7/32.
Since there are only two options for the answer, on average the student will answer half of the answers correctly.
Seven-thirty would be a half after seven in the evening. " half after seven o'clock". " half after seven o'clock".
3.75
seven and one half is equaled to 7.5
fifteen halves seven and one half seven and two fourths seven and three sixths seven and four eighths
One and seven-eigths.
Seven and a half.
Half of seven eights is three fourths
You can still get student loans half way through the semester. However, student loans are not disbursed until after the semester has ended, unless it is from a private institution.
No student dies in The Half-Blood Prince.
