To add them together you must first make the denominator the same.

1/6 + 2/3 + 1/4 = 2/12 + 8/12+ 3/12 = 13/12 = 1 1/12

alternatively u can separate the additions.

1/6 + 2/3 = 1/6 + 4/6 = 5/6

5/6 + 1/4 = 10/12 + 3/12 = 13/12 = 1 1/12

1 over 9 plus 4 over 9?

If you are using the word "over" to describe that these numbers are fractions, then 1/9 plus 4/9 is 5/9. Since the denominators are the same, you simply add the numerators of both fractions, and you have your answer, 5 over 9.

How do you add fractions with like denominators?

Add the numerators and put that over the denominator; reduce the final fraction. example: 1/8 + 3/8 = (1 + 3)/8 = 4/8 = 1/2

How do you add and subtract like fractions?

Assuming that these "like" fractions have common denominators, to add or subtract them, simply add or subtract their numerators (numbers on top of the fraction), then put that answer over the like denominator. Example: 5/7 + 1/7 = 6/7 Example: 3/8 - 2/8 = 1/8
