It means "yields." If it meant equals it would mean that both sides of the equation are the same which they are not. One side of the equation yields the other side.

A shorter easier way to show chemical reactions using symbols instead of works is called?

Chemical Equation

What do the formula of a chemical equation tell you?

Chemicals equations use chemical formulas and other symbols instead of words to summarize a reaction.

An unbalanced chemical equation?

An unbalanced equation that uses names of the substances instead of chemical formulas is called a word equation. As a rule, metallic elements are named first and non-metallic next. The suffix of the latter is changed into "ide".

What formulas arrow and plus signs in a chemical equation tell you?

Chemicals equations use chemical formulas and other symbols instead of words to summarize a reaction.

What is the difference between a word equation a formula equation and a chamical equation?

A chemical formula is the way a particular chemical (element or compound) is represented using the letters given in the Periodic Table. For example, the chemical formula of oxygen is O2 and the chemical formula of caron dioxide is CO2A word equation describes a chemical reactionusing the names of chemicals only. For instance, the word equation for respiration is:glucose + oxygen => carbon dioxide + waterA formula equation also describes a chemical reaction, but uses chemical formulae instead of names and is balanced. An example of this would be methane burning in oxygen:CH4 + 2O2 => CO2 + 2H2O

Is sodium a chemical equation?

No, because chemical equations require more than one element. For example: Na- + Cl -----> Na- Cl (Na is negative & Cl is positive) Also chemical equations have to have an arrow instead of an equal sign, as far as I know.

What is the y-intersept for the graph of 5x 2y-8?

Solve the equation for "y". In this case, you'll have an equation of the form: y = ax + b In this type of equation, whatever number you have instead of "a" is the slope; and whatever number you have instead of "b" is the y-intercept.

What is calcium carbonate plus sulphuric acid equal to?

They react to give calcium sulfate and water, though the reaction is not very fast because the calcium sulfate is poorly soluble. We sometimes use an equals sign instead of an arrow in a chemical equation but we read it as 'gives' rather than 'equals', because we are not saying the substances are the same thing.

What would be the equation if I was to aim for highest sales made instead of profit?

There would be no sensible equation: it would be sales = ∞
