Yes, you're right! There are a lot of lonely people. And you want to know where they all come from? Big question! I'll try to answer. People are lonely because they have not learned how to communicate. Many years ago we used to live in the extended family, where several generations lived in the same home. Communicatiion came natural because you lived in small quaters. Today, with the deterioration of the nuclear family, many of us live alone. We phone each other, we text and sometimes we do not communicate at all. With so little face to face exchanges, we do not have much of a chance to learn to communicate well. And that is a shame. For communication is the tool that builds a well-functioning society. That is why we have all these lonely people. Of course we can all learn to communicate. But communication implies risks. Someone might get angry. I would like to recommend Chapter 8, 'The Framing of Anger" in "Marriages, Shack-ups and Other Disasters". If you have not been taught to communicate, this will give you a good start.
This is a part of the lyric chorus from the Beatles 1966 song, Eleanor Rigby. The chorus is: "All the lonely people Where do they all come from? All the lonely people Where do they all belong? Ahh, look at all the lonely people (x2)"

The theme for the song 'Eleanor Rigby' is life and death. In the song there is a wedding ceremony which for most is a celebration of life. Then, at the end of the song, Eleanor dies which is the opposite of the wedding's theme.
