its a kind of impact printer.. it has a print head and logic card.. print head is having normally 9 or 24 pins.. logic card give the signal to print head and then print head strick the appropriate pin for impression..

A dot matrix is an impact printer. It prints by firing pins (usually 9 pins or 24 pins) against an inked ribbon and so leaves dots forming characters or graphics on the paper. A dot matrix is often used to print through multi-paged listing paper in an office.
