A cashier can be called exactly just that however, in a resume you might want to be more tactful. Front desk customer service would be a nice twist on words.

There is nothing tactless about being described as, or callling yourself, a "cashier" - or come to that, waiter/ress, cleaner, receptionist, secretary, labourer, etc. A potential employer wants accurate, concise details of your experience, not flummery, and if anything it is LESS tactful to hide behind jargon that conveys nothing of your actual role.
If you use meaningless terms like "front desk customer representative" you waste the interviewer's time in having to ask you to explain, and he or she may suspect you are unable to convey accurate information clearly, or are even trying to hide something.
Be honest - that's what is being tactful!
