Are 2.7 v6 1998 Dodge Intrepid good cars?
They last forever!
The Dodge Intrepid isn't nescesarily a bad car... The 2.7 engines are the problem. The 2.7 v6 engine is not tolerant of neglect, and the oil changes need to be on time. Also, converting to synthetic oil can prolong the life of your Intrepid. If you are looking to buy an Intrepid I'd suggest looking for the 3.2 v6 or the 3.5 v6. Good Luck!
Run 1997 Dodge Intrepid 3.3 for over an hour it just stops and has to sit for 20 minutes then runs again like nothing happen?
Dodge hybrid cars have not received the most favorable reviews in the auto market. These cars actually do require a lot of gasoline, making their "hybrid factor" virtually ineffective. A lot of consumers also have had trouble with the engine of the Dodge hybrid. It is not a good car for the person who wants a car with good gas mileage. You will still have to spend thousands of dollars in gasoline with this car.
Why does my 2003 Dodge Intrepid cut off while I am driving it but when I try to restart it it cranks right up this happens atleast twice a day?
I had to replace the engine in my 2002 Intrepid and it cost me a good $3,500. They have to match the year and vin number up with a compatible engine and the mechanic will need to tear the whole front end apart to lift the engine in/out. I can tell you there are very few engines left when I was searching for one a month ago.

Cam sensor on 1996 Dodge intrepid 3.5 V6 is on the driver's side on top where the cam gear turns on the front of the engine.. Usually has a 90 deg. connector for the wires.. MUST be air gapped correctly to work proplerly.. DO NOT Bottom the sensor out against the cam gear unless the new sensor has a card board disc glued to the end of the sensor to set the gap... Good luck!

It is located on the lower part of the engine and requires a special tool, $50, to remove the hose clamps unless they have been changed already from the OEM clamps.
