If the Jewish people originated in Northern Africa is it true then that African Americans are descendants of the original Israelites?

Well, there's no such thing as "original Israelites"; the Israelites still are the same people, but not always recognized as such. However, even if one isn't born an Israelite, they can still be one of His people if they keep His statutes and obey His commandments. Those considered African Americans are certainly descendants of Israelites of past. (Considered is stressed because Israelites were not Africans just because they had dark skin colors.)

What nationality are the Jewish people?

Jewish people tend to be of the Hebrew nation, and are the people of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. They are the people of Israel. Jacob's name was changed to Israel, and all of Jacob's descendants became the nation of Israel. It should be noted that Hebrews and Jews, while usually embodied by the same people (with exceptions), do not have the same definition because Judaism is a religious faith and Hebrews are of the Hebrew and Israeli nationality. So as many people who would call themselves Jewish are also Hebrew, and many people who call themselves Hebrews are also Jewish, they are not one and the same. Much like a Roman is not synonymous with a Catholic. Hebrew is a word that actually means one who crosses over, as in crosses over from Egypt.

What religion was mostly practiced by the Hebrew people?

"Hebrews" (Ivrim) actually means descendants of Eber (Ever). Ever was an ancestor of Abraham (Genesis ch.10-11) and the earliest Hebrews were Abraham's uncles and cousins for several generations back. They were idolaters, as is evident from Genesis 31:30, 31:53, and Joshua 24:2. It is only the Israelites (whom you probably intended in your Question), who were monotheistic. They practiced what is today called Judaism; the Torah and its commands.

Are the Hebrews and the Israelites the same people?

Those called Israelis are those who reside in the land of Israel as of now. Those who are Israelites are those who are descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, are scattered of out the land of Israel, and are of the 12 tribes of Israel. These people are traditionally considered to be the Jews although there are minority opinions that claim them to be African-American, Palestinian, and otherwise. So, the answer would be no, they are not the same people.

What people are also known as Israelites?

Hebrew people are also known as Israelites, because of the biblical tradition that they were descended from the patriarch Israel. In later times, the Hebrew people of the Babylonian Exile were known as Jews. However, the population of the northern kingdom of Israel had already been assimilated into other Near Eastern cultures and had lost their ethnic identity as Hebrews or Israelites. Conversely, not all modern Jews are descended from the ancient Hebrews.

What do they call elves in Israel?

The word in Hebrew is the same as in English "Elf" (אלף). Jews do not have a culture that "invented" elves like Nordic Culture and therefore Hebrew does not have an endemic word for "elves". This is as opposed to "Dwarf" which is translated as Gamad (גמד) since there is a concept among Ancient Israelites of Dwarfs.
