This depends on where you live, but unfortunately Breed Specific Legislation banning the breeding and ownership of this misunderstood breed does exist in some places. In the UK, for example, the heavily criticized Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 makes owning, selling or breeding Pit Bulls, Dogo Argentinos, Fila Brasileiros and Tosa Inus. In places where laws like this stand, Pit Bulls can be seized and destroyed regardless of their temperament. Where they are legal, however, this breed can make an excellent pet and companion.
