Botanically a banana is a herbaceous flowering plant. The edible fruit is botanically a berry, containing potassium, which is very healthy.

They are also considered a fruit.

A fruit is classified by having seeds. A banana does, in fact, have seeds. They are located in the center of the banana running lengthwise and appear as tiny brown dots..

Actually, it is both a fruit AND a herb. A banana (the yellow thing you peel and eat) is undoubtedly a fruit (containing the seeds of the plant) though since commercially-grown banana plants are sterile, the seeds are reduced to little specks. However, the banana plant, though it is called a 'banana-tree' in popular usage, is technically regarded as a herbaceous plant (or 'herb'), not a tree, because the stem does not contain true woody tissue.

Like tomatoes are actually fruit because they have seeds and grow above ground.

Although referred to as banana trees, they are not trees at all but a perennial herb. Its trunk is not a true one, but many leaves tightly wrapped around a single stem which emerges at the top as the fruit-bearing flower stalk.

Bananas are the fruit of the banana plant - they have small black seeds in them. But some members of the banana family (plantains) are treated as vegetables: a starchy food like potatoes.

* The words fruit and vegetable are not exclusionary - the word vegetable is only a culinary term.

You consider as "Tropical" everything that grows under tropical conditions.

Bananas and Pineapples for example are both so called tropical fruits since they need a certain amount of humidity and water which you usually find in tropical regions. They also contain seeds, making them fruits.

Banana is classified as a herb but categorised into fruits as they grow on trees.

Banana is a seedless fruit. Seedless bananas and grapes are triploids. Seedlessness results from the abortion of the embryonic plant that is produced by fertilization, a phenomenon known as stenospermocarpy which requires normal pollination and fertilization. The banana plant is the largest herbaceous flowering plant.
