I use to own a Cairn and she was so good with all ages of children and now I have a 4 year Bichon Frise that is smart as a whip, loves people and little kids and even our cat. These 3 breeds of dogs don't shed, but if your son has asthma then NO dog is adviseable because it's not the shedding but skin dander.
