Yes, you have to have a blood test. The reason is to ensure that neither of you has a communicable disease or any type disease for which you should see a physician. Also, your blood is checked to determine if you have any bacterial or viral infections or sexually transmitted diseases. Additionally, it is a requirement of most states that you undergo these tests.. Also, it would not be desirable to be married without making sure you are free of any contagious or communicable diseases.
