Class rings are traditionally made of silver or siladium (with the appearance of white gold), with one or many precious gems attached. They can also be made of pewter, gold, or stainless steel, depending on the student's choice or options given.

If you ring is not real silver you will be able to tell, if your finger where your ring is placed goes green. If I have eaten too many foods with acid in them, all of my rings including my Gold rings turn my fingers green. Silver should have .925 stamped on it.

It's hard to say. Define "real". Real gold? Real silver? They can be, however they should also be stamped with purities if they are. I've often had "China" and "Thailand" sterling silver rings.
If gold the price would be based on how much gold. Most of those rings are melted and the only value is the gold weight
