yes, actually the word compress means to the increase in pressure or decrease in volume. so as we can see that the gas is a substance which can change any of the shape so on compressing them they might be get change there phase into liquid phase.

Also we have a phenomenon of the material. As we can see that we have the types of the matter-:

a). solid (molecules very dense)

b). liquid (molecules not to dense and not to far)

c). Gases (molecules very far)

so as the gas is the substance or matter that have molecules very far so they can be compressed to be liquid and as well as solid.

Example: The water steam is a good example for that phenomenon, which on compression can be changed in liquid and then in solid ice.

Yes they can. This is because the gas molecules are spaced far apart from each other and thus it is possible and easy to bring them closer together (i.e. compressing the gas).

No, gases are not difficult to compress. In fact they are much more compressible than liquids and solids are almost incompressible.

Yes, you can compress all gases, including helium.

Which state of matter cannot be compressed?

Solids and liquids are difficult compress. Gases, however, are easy; they respond to changes in temperature and volume.

Why are gases relatively easy to compress?

part of the reason is that they're a vapour.......

Why are solids not easy to compress as gases?

The molecules of solid are already intact that you cannot compress them any further unless there are spaces left.

What is the main purpose of a piston?

To compress gases in order to create a controlled expansion of gases thus allowing the piston to descend

Why does gas expend when heated and easy to compress?

The intermolecular forces in gases are weak.

What are two characteristics of fluids?

Fluids can be either liquids or gases. Gas is easy to compress and expands to fill its container while liquid is hard to compress.

All gases have the ability to do what?

They make everything hotter

Can a gas be compressed?

Gases can be compressed, this is because they have small particles and can fit into smaller spaces, for example:they can be squeezed into aerol cans

Why do hydraulic systems only work with liquids not gases?

Because the gas can not deliver power. Pressure of the gases are compressed. Liquids do not compress well and transmit power.

If a gas is pushed from a larger space into a smaller space what will happen to the pressure?

It will compress. Gases have particles that move away from each other, so if you compress it hard enough, it will push back quickly and surprisingly.

Why gases compress?

Gases are compressible because their molecules bounce off of each other instead of sticking together. The molecules of solids and liquids stick together instead of moving freely.
