GCSEs are designed to challenging, they almost divide the country between those who pass and those who fail. Although many members of the public claim that the exams are getting easier, this is not the case, generations are getting smarter through time and so therefore the government are making them even harder leaving present day students exhausted and under a enormous amounts of stress. In fact, a current A grade in the up coming GCSE mark scheme is the equivalent of a low B almost 30 years ago. GCSEs are very tough, including the preparation which can be emotionally and physically stressful and upsetting so support from friends, family and school is vital in order to achieve the desired grades in the easiest way (if there is an easy way).

The varied subject choices cause a range in difficulty (including if they are available for IGCSE), for example:

Ancient History- MEDIUM

Art- HARD

Biology- MEDIUM

Biology IGCSE- HARDER

Chemistry- HARD

Chemistry IGCSE- EVEN HARDER

English Literature- MEDIUM

French- EASY

Maths- HARD

Maths IGCSE- HARDEST SUBJECT

Physics- MEDIUM

Physics IGCSE- HARD

IGCSEs on the other hand are a big step up and much more challenging as there is no course work to help build up the marks. These examinations require much more work, and are the most difficult to manage. A B GCSE grade is the equivalent to a high A grade and maybe even A* in GCSE examinations of the same subject.

To conclude, all you can do to survive GCSEs is be as prepared as possible. Take regular break when revising and try to start as soon as possible, working from a good set of notes that work best for you.

Yes. They're made to be hard. There wouldn't be much point doing them if they were all easy! However, with hard work over the next while, you should do well. Just remember to revise as much as possible. Begin early, and keep reviewing stuff so you don't forget it. If in doubt, ask your teachers. That's why they're there after all! Good luck :)
