Well yes they are, im sure if your asking this question you should know that they are and the fact that if one does something then the other will do the same. EX. One jumps off A cliff then all the Lemurs will. I had a teacher that would call us lemurs, beacsue when one person would start talking we would all start talking...LOL

- Actually this is all completely wrong and either your teacher was a little slow, or your cant hear right, because lemurs don't copy each other or jump off of cliffs after each other, that has never happened. she, or you, was thinking of lemmings - and even that's not entirely true with them - but its the general thinking. Also, lemurs arent monkeys. they arent apes either. They are however, a type of primate called a prosimian.

First of all, neither "monkeys" nor "lemurs" count as a biological "family" in official taxonomy. "Monkeys" belong to the infraorder Simiiformes (which also includes apes & humans), while lemurs belong to the infraorder Lemuriformes. Both infraorders contain many families. For example, among the lemurs there are sifakas and their kin (family Indriidae), ring-tailed lemurs and their kin (family Lemuridae), and so on.

This is a question of opinion, however lemurs do appear similar to monkeys in my opinion. Both monkeys and lemurs are primates and they both walk on two legs, have tails, some species both live in trees and they are covered in short fur so yes lemurs do resemble monkeys.
