The diet of lions primarily consists of grazing animals such as gazelle, deer, zebras, etc. These are primary consumers (i.e. they eat plants), thus unless a lion eats a hunting animal (in rare instances, lions may hunt each other if food is scarce though this is the exception, not the rule) it is a secondary consumer.
