Why are pitbulls bad dogs?

Don't think there's any breed that's genuinely bad as such.

However, pit bulls are the favourite breed for people who thinks that dog fighting is a good hobby.

And if you breed dogs to fight, and then train them to fight, well, then you do get some rather nasty creatures eventually.

You can just as easily have good pits. Might take some generations of breeding and/or a lot of upbringing to curb that fighting instinct. But perfectly doable.

Pitbulls have a bad rap due to the ignorance of people. Many times, an attack will happen "randomly" but in truth the dog must not have been from the best of lines and/or breeders. If you are looking into buying one, make sure you do your research on the pedigree and search for the dogs in the pedigree's owners. And make sure you feel comfortable with the owners and their dogs. All dogs bite. Not just pitbulls

I've grown up with Pitt bulls my entire life. Not one of them have tried to attack me or anyone else. They're just sweet (and stupid) dogs. The have such a bad reputation because many Pitt bull owners train them for fighting and treat them horribly. They chain them up and barely even feed them. Which makes them mean and aggressive.

Pit bulls are wonderful dogs. Just because of their bad reputation doesn't mean they are mean and fighters. It is the way they are trained, not the breed. If they are brought up right, they will be lovely dogs. You could train a chihuahua to be a fighter. Also, you are more likely to be struck by lightning than to be attacked by a pit bull.

If you are considering getting one, please check you local shelter because there are tons waiting for new homes. If you are still unsure, most shelters will have programs to make you feel comfortable around new dogs.

Any dog can be a bad dog if it is not trained. Pit bulls are an aggressive breed, though, and might be more difficult to train and be more dangerous to people not in their family.
